perhaps, just maybe, i might've taken the the phrase 'new year new me' too seriously. no i mean it because i actually made an effort this month to go out of my way to find new kpop groups and their songs and not sit in my small ass house made of the same 5 artists i listen to every single fucking day. i say all this and then BOOM. 200 scrobbles for ONE artist. you'll see, you'll see. — so! eventful month for me because i finally started listening to p1harmony !!!! [claps and whistles] i vaguely remember watching their debut stage on mcountdown because i was waiting for make a wish's stage back then and idk... siren didn't seem like such a big hit to me [tomato tomato ew] BUT LOOK AT ME NOW! character development fr. i tweeted a week ago when i listened to siren with fresh ears that 'if i had a debut song like that i'd never ever shut up' so yeah. i completely understand fellow stan twt aficionado keeho now. but, siren wasn't the first song of theirs that i ended up listening to! i was listening to chaser by woodz and butterfly decided to come on chaser radio and i was like 😍 immediately. dude this song is literally insane??? it's so well produced and just. jiung and keeho's voices together ... mwah chef's kiss. no wonder i had this on repeat for like half a month now. i then ended up checking out their entire discography because why not ?! and dude, their debut album rly went AWF. that's it is literally one of my favorite songs these days because it's just so fun. just some dudes having fun with a song. absolutely fucking love their discography so far ... maybe i /will/ become a p1ece after all? (special thanks to lackingdaze for some wonderful sunoo/intak fics i love u)

— i'm kidding! i was super anti blessed-cursed the moment the album preview came out and then i watched the mv and i was like. why am i being subjected to this mid-tier stuff. it's maybe my fault for setting my expectations too high BUT IT'S ALSO THEIR FAULT FOR RAISING THE BAR SO HIGH WITH DRUNK-DAZED. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO ??? just like everyone else, i was also one of those people who were like "huh? that's it?" when the mv ended and i strongly believe they could've gone for a proper bridge and final chorus because b-c just sounds to weirdly unfinished. but. i've learned to roll with it. i don't mind listening to it now because heeseung doing body rolls in front of my face everyday for two weeks was enough to convince me into stockholm syndroming it into my brain. also ni-ki's styling these days??? do i have to mention it's fucking awesome. god bless his stylist. jake's stylist can rot though, i have no sympathies. i am also very sick of heeseung's pink hair please get it out of my face.
— my sudden obsession with pirate??? DON'T ASK. dude i was one of those people who thought that the 'let me introduce myself' part was so cringe but then. it just keeps getting better with every listen. the clear winner is obv sihyeon with her BEAUTIFUL pre-chorus ... one of the best i've ever heard. it's just so nostalgic to me because the bass is thrumming underneath her vocals and then it just picks up slowly for the 'all the way, all the way' part and it's just so satisfying to me. this and the final chorus !!! ohmygod. it just hits wayyyy better and i wish they conveyed this energy with the choreo too but imo it kinda lost energy and fell off a bit. the last chorus is still so good on its own though, bc the BASS IS SO ALIVE!! and you can hear the little dubstep noises from the track and it just makes me so unbelievably happy u guys don't understand HUEHUE
— kep1er's debut ... i had to talk abt it lol. so i have no idea who these girls are (except for kai's sister ofc lmao) and i didn't watch the show either. but i ended up watching wa da da's teasers and they sounded like absolute bangers so i decided to tune in to see what's up. AND I REALLY LIKED THE SONG .... till the first part of the chorus. the main beat is just so strong and catchy and i fucking loved it and then the chorus comes and i was like OMG THIS IS GREAT !!! and then BOOM. the post-chorus came on and i was like oh jesus why did they do that ... idk the post-chorus section was so cringe and girl group cute formula to me and don't even get me started on the choreo for that part... it was a bit... disturbing to watch it up close (circa. music bank). what they should've done is an extended chorus with a dubstep dance break and not whatever this mess was.
— i also ended up watching a bunch of youtube videos with the exact same title (kpop b-sides of 2021 that you should check out) and this is how i wound up listening to so much of these bangers. even though they're not all on my top 10 tracks, i rly rly enjoyed finding them and putting them on shuffle. some of the songs i found and highly recommend are: yalla by wjsn, e i e i o by gwsn, chemical by bdc, ghost by dreamnote, and merry bad ending by the boyz.
— also this month!!! i rekindled my love for cravity T__T I MISSED MY BOYS. i caved and watched a bunch of vitypark and finally caught up till the end of s4 and now they've announced a cb so i'm just [spongebob_waiting.png]. anyways, i have a new bias now and it's taeyoung, thanks to me bingeing vvv stages. dude his cutout shirts are just SO POWERFUL. and give me your love is literally their best song ever, i take no criticism.
— what i'm looking out for in february is obviously the crabbiti comeback and TEMPEST DEBUT !!!! MY BOY HYUNGSEOP IS FINALLY DEBUTING I COULD CRY. their trailers and pics and covers look so awesome and im going to be tuning in from day one. next is ... CIX'S JAPANESE ALBUM??? so shocked. guys i need be ok pt 2 ??? anyways. and hopefully dreamcatcher will also announce their cb this month, and i'm just hoping dami will do me justice and bring back the iconic short hair again. all i can do is dream. so far no news of wayv cb [clown_music.mp3] but mark solo !!! so proud of him <3 i have a vague idea of how it'll sound and i'm kind of 😬 about it rn but let's see !!! praying to find more more banger edm based songs this month :D
